Sharing the Point – Asia 2011 Tour

Where in the world is Rob LaMear? Fpweb.net is taking the best of the best in Hosted SharePoint to Asia to spread the word about SharePoint 2010 this March. Passports and Visas are in order and flights are booked. The Fpweb.net road crew will be blogging and shooting video along the way so it should be pretty interesting.  All of the great Sharing the Point Speakers will be chiming in on various SharePoint topics and the decks will be available to the community once the tour is finished.

The Best of the SharePoint Best

So who’s going on this SharePoint odyssey? You may recognize a few members of the gang.  SharePoint evangelists Joel Oleson, Michael Noel, Paul Swider, Mark Miller, Dux Raymond Sy and of course – our very own Rob LaMear.

There’s no ‘fluff’ in these sessions.  This is all real world SharePoint information that people need and are asking about every day.  John Anderson, from the blog SharePoint Blank, will accompany the tour as an "embedded journalist" – providing daily updates from the road, as well as extensive coverage of each tour stop.

#STPAsia Tour Cities and Schedule

Sharing the Point SharePoint Sessions

As mentioned, these decks will be available to the community after the tour is completed.  Each track will consist of 3 presentations lasting approximately 60 minutes and ranging from introductory 100‐level content to highly technical 400‐level “expert” sessions.   Check out all the STP session abstracts.

Here’s what I will be covering:

Can’t/Don’t/Won’t: Software (SharePoint) as a Service

Presented by Rob LaMear
Session Type: Business/Administration

Once you have realized SharePoint is the right next step for you (you need it/gotta have it!), very quickly all the questions can come flooding in; Who will run this, What if it crashes, Where will the budget come from, How do we maintain it?  A quick answer that is growing more and more common is Software as a Service (SaaS); an option that allows growing businesses to stay focused on what they're good at and outsource the rest.

Speak Chinese?

If you speak Mandarin you can get an invitation to the Beijing session in the video below. Also, as a favor, if you do speak Mandarin; please let us know if Jared snuck any “Easter eggs” into the invitation or offered up anything else we should know about (wink wink).

About Rob LaMear IV

Rob, Fpweb.net’s founder and biggest evangelist, believes the best thing about Fpweb.net is its people and energy, hands down. As a graduate from Notre Dame, Rob has led lots of past business lives as a window washer, golf artwork sales, accountant and D1 soccer coach. Passionate about doing things right and homemade apple pie, Rob is a firm believer in the American Dream and knows if you can dream it, you can do it. As much as he likes work and technology, Rob loves spending time with his family completely unplugged, fly fishing or joining a pickup game of soccer in the park. Follow Rob on Google+
