SharePoint 2010 Reseller FAQ

Part 2 of our series: Fpweb.net’s hosted SharePoint 2010 Q&A

Hi there! We’re back again with part 2 of our series designed to address the most common questions we’re asked about our services. In case you missed it, part 1 of our SharePoint 2010 Hosting FAQ Series covered many of the most common questions we hear regarding our SharePoint 2010 Foundation hosting plans.

Fpweb.net reseller program frequently asked questions

Today’s topic is the Fpweb.net reseller program. We’ve got all the details right here for those of you who are wondering how exactly it works. However, before this post gets into specifics, taking a glance at our reseller program might be helpful.

Done with that? Great! Now onto the questions! Below you’ll see a real live conversation between a customer (we’ll refer to him as Mike) and our Fpweb.net expert (who we’ll call Tim).

Mike: Ok, I’ve just signed up for your reseller plan. How soon will this kick into effect?

Tim: Check your inbox! You probably already have a nice little email waiting to welcome you into the club. Usually, we can get you set up and selling in as little as 2 to 3 days.

Mike: If I’m a reseller, how visible will Fpweb.net be to my customers?

Tim: We will be completely invisible to your customers and you will be our only point of contact. If one of your customers ever contacts you for support, you can just simply open a ticket with us.

Mike: How exactly will billing work?

Tim: We will bill you for all of your Fpweb.net hosting plans. You can then make any price adjustments you want and resell them to your customers.

Mike: So these are plans, right? For example, is it possible to sign up for the 2010 Foundation Group plan and just carve it up among smaller customers?

Tim: The rules are one plan per site since SharePoint is complex and resource intensive. Plus, we know firsthand that it’s not very easy to carve it up.

Mike: What about us customers who are only looking to share with 1-5 employees? The 2010 Foundation Starter plan might be overkill. What would you recommend?

Tim: We understand completely. If this is the case, we’d recommend the customer take a look at Microsoft’s BPOS. It won’t be fully functional SharePoint, but it may be just enough for them if price is an issue.

Mike: Any recommendations on which is the fastest reselling plan?

Tim: Our 2010 Foundation Group plan is a great value since it supports custom domains and lets your user have a public facing site. Hosting a public facing site (with WSS) previously required a $200/month Internet connector, but with the 2010 Foundation Group plan, it’s already included.

There you have it, the expert answers to the most common Fpweb.net reseller questions. Feel like we failed to mention something? Let us know! Add it as a comment below and we’ll get you an answer pronto.

Also, keep on the lookout for part 3 of this series, which will tackle questions about our network, ISVs and our pals Microsoft!
