  1. Chris,

What do you think of Spence’s comment about not using the SPFarm account to login? In the article you link to, he says “It is also further assumed that you are not logging onto the server using the Farm Admin account or using it to access central admin!” I’ve used his advice to the word on working setups, but not with PowerShell, so maybe that one contradiction is neccessary in your case.

Good call Tom. The difference is powershell. There is a bug…feature…whatever that when you provision with powershell the schema on the database gets confused. Now to be honest I haven’t verified this with SP1 yet, but pre sp that was the case.

  3. @Chris Schwab
Can you go into more detail on the bug? I haven’t been provisioning with PowerShell, but I might like to in the future or explain the issue to others who might ask me about it.

  4. Chris Schwab says:

Tom, Spence covers this issue much better than I ever could (doesn’t he always). Here is some good reading.

Your suggestion to read Harbar’s posts on this subject “5 or 6 times” is about right. I certainly had to read them at least 3 times before I started to really understand.

I’m not dissing Harbar…is just that the requirements/constraints are so convoluted.
