Office 365 is a good fit for some folks. Not so good for others.
Like any decision concerning your company’s or customers’ data, you should know all the risks and caveats before making a decision. Here are some important details for you to consider.
As you may or may not know, I effectively prepare and negotiate hosting contracts and Service Level Agreements (SLA) on a daily basis and have been doing so for over 15 years. I’ve seen some fantastic agreements from small companies and weak ones from Fortune 100s.
In the end, the fine print is critical and will always be what both parties stand behind. Nothing herein is based on conjecture or taken out of context. The following is all accurate, current information which you can verify in one click. Read for yourself and ask hard questions. You owe it to your company and customers.
Fpweb.net, the leading provider of SharePoint Private Cloud Hosting, invites you to join award winning SharePoint Solution provider and AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) Expert Gig Werks for a complimentary event to learn about the First Software as a Service (SaaS) offering built on SharePoint for the AEC Industries.
Microsoft SharePoint is already an excellent collaboration tool for construction firms, but the Gig Werks ProjectReady solution complements and extends the native capabilities of SharePoint with advanced features built for the particular challenges faced by AEC companies. Based on Gig Werks deep experience of providing on premise/private cloud solutions to the industry, this new offering includes out-of-the-box SharePoint functionality as well as integrated Nintex workflows, built-in business intelligence and collaboration and project management features.
As a SaaS solution set, companies pay per user, per month, with a range of features to choose from. This model allows firms to scale up or down – adding and removing functionality as necessary to ensure your organization gets exactly what and when it needs.
In our last post, Fpweb.net hosting engineer Joe Beyer offered tips on How to Upgrade from SharePoint 2003 . . . all the way to SharePoint 2010. But where does the roadmap extend past the 2010 version? In this post, we’ll take a closer look at SharePoint 2013 – and the system requirements you’ll need to have in place in order to upgrade to the 2013 version.
If you’re anything like our staff at Fpweb.net, then you spend a lot of time with SharePoint. So- as you probably already know- the big news in the SharePoint community is the announcement of another major release in the near future (dubbed “SharePoint 2013″, at least for now).
And yeah, it’s kind of a big deal for our industry…
With the special announcement in San Francisco on July 16th 2012 by Steve Ballmer, Microsoft Office 2013 and SharePoint 2013 Previews are available for free download. After Ballmer introduced “Your Modern Office” and a shift in the ways in which people work these days, we witnessed a demo of the new Office product line. It looks like major investments were put into making Office tablet and mobile device friendly. It was interesting to see the same user interfaces across devices.

I’m kind of starting to feel like the Fpweb.net weather girl! It seems as though every time I start off a blog post, I’m talking about a new season. You’ve already seen Fall…and Spring… now it’s time for Summer 2012. (Yes, I realized I missed winter somewhere along the way. I must have been baking cookies, watching Christmas Vacation, or doing something else super productive.)
So, since Memorial Day unofficially kicked off summer, it seems only fitting that I inform you of what the crazy Fpweb.net road crew is up to in these sun-scorching months to come.

Beautiful weather for a day of SharePoint!
Well, this St. Louis weekend centered on SharePoint! From the speakers dinner at the Moonrise Hotel in the famous St. Louis Loop on Friday night to the Saturday sessions on the campus of Washington University and finishing with a “SharePint” cocktail party back at the Moonrise Rooftop Bar, this SharePoint Saturday was a great success!
Fpweb.net had roughly 15 team members wandering around the booth and into sessions on Saturday. It was kind of like having an office field trip! SharePoint Community events like this are great for meeting fellow SharePoint professionals, but they are also great for team building within your organization. Fpweb.net had a great time getting together on a Saturday to meet members of the SharePoint Community!
Needless to say, here at Fpweb.net we’re pretty excited to have the SharePoint Community show up in our own backyard! This Saturday, June 2nd, St. Louis hosts its own SharePoint Saturday!
SharePoint Saturdays are an amazing opportunity to gather together SharePoint architects, developers, consultants and other SharePoint professionals under one roof for a free, educational day that’s filled with informative and fun sessions led by a handful of carefully selected SharePoint experts and MVPs.
The best part about this SharePoint Community initiative? It’s FREE! All you have to do is REGISTER and then show up! These events take place all over the world, so you can imagine how pumped we are when it makes it down Route 66 and smack dab in our stomping grounds!
Fpweb.net is pulling off the conference trifecta this Saturday: We’re sponsoring, speaking and tending the booth! Technically, we’re doing four things if you count all of our team members who are showing up to take part in some of the great sessions available.
Make sure you stop by to say Hi! We look forward to meeting with old friends and making new ones. We’ll be scattered throughout the conference so make sure to pull one of us aside and introduce yourself. We’re hoping you have questions about the Fpweb.net SharePoint Cloud. It’s our SharePoint hosting solution that delivers speed, power, performance and security all in your very own private, highly available server. Also, we’ll have plenty of our SharePoint experts around to answer any SharePoint questions you might have.
We hope you can make it, but if not, be sure to follow us on Twitter (@fpweb) as well as the hashtag #SPSSTL to get all the latest news and happenings from the SharePoint Saturday St. Louis event!
We’re only one day away from the next part of the popular webinar series “Temptations That Lead to the Five Deadly Sins of SharePoint in the Enterprise.” Registration is free, so sign up today!
Wednesday, May 23rd at 2:00pm (ET), Chris Schwab, Fpweb.net’s SharePoint Engineering Director, and Caroll Ford, Innovative-e’s Managing Partner, team up to present an in-depth look at Human Resources “temptations” or mistakes that are made by organizations when it comes to understanding the roles necessary to successfully implement and maintain a SharePoint portal, as well as knowing what skills are essential to the various roles.
Well folks, Spring is officially here!
What’s that you say? You’ve been enjoying the new season for the past month and a half? Okay, truth is… I have too! I spent all winter making meals in the Crock Pot (yes, I still consider this cooking), but the crazy nice weather has got me grilling anything and everything I can think of. Have you ever tried peaches on the grill, drizzled with honey? If not, please stop what you’re doing and go make some now… I promise you won’t regret it!
Alright, I may have gotten a little off track with the peach thing. But really… spring is all about baseball games, evening walks, and soaking up every minute of daylight you possibly can. Another thing it’s good for? Traveling the globe, talking about SharePoint. So without further ado, here’s what the Fpweb.net SharePoint Hosting ‘Road Crew’ will be up to in April:
Innovative-e, Inc. and Fpweb.net are proud to host a free SharePoint webinar series – “Temptations That Lead to the 5 Deadly Sins of SharePoint in the Enterprise.”
Join us for the next webinar in the series, “5 Risky SharePoint Temptations for IT Leaders” on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 2:00pm ET. Co-hosts Dux Raymond Sy, managing partner of Innovative-e, and Mark Miller, Director of Global Strategy and Senior Storyteller at Fpweb.net, will discuss SharePoint risk management and take an in-depth look into the “temptations” or mistakes that IT leaders make when it comes to implementing and managing SharePoint enterprise-wise.
The “SharePoint Temptations” series is an extension of the original “5 Deadly Sins of SharePoint in the Enterprise” webinar. Innovative-e’s monthly webinar series began in January and Fpweb.net is proud to be joining this month as a co-host. The series will continue through June 2012.
