Out of sight, but certainly not out of mind… Joplin, MO

Joplin, MO Tornado

As many of you know Fpweb.net is located in St. Louis, Missouri.  Many of us here in the office have connections to Joplin, Mo and want to do our part to keep the recovery efforts in front of our own network as much as possible.  Please follow the below American Red Cross Disaster Relief link if you would like to help the many American families that have been affected by recent tornadoes, floods, and wild fires.

Operation ShareLove – Helping Christchurch & Japan

We are a global community, interconnected more now than ever before. When a disaster strikes even on the other side of the world, it affects us all. The SharePoint community has come together and created Operation ShareLove, an initiative designed to respond to natural disasters with an outpouring of financial support funneled through disaster relief agencies trained to get help where it is most needed.

Support Christchurch + Japan and Win Awesome SharePoint Prizes!

Fpweb.net is proud to support Operation ShareLove: New Zealand & Japan to help the victims of the recent earthquakes. If you’d like to be a part of this global initiative, all you have to do is donate to the charity of your choice in support of victims of these disasters. In addition to the feel good vibe you’ll have from donating to an excellent cause, you’ll also receive a FREE e-book voucher from O’Reilly Media. Once you’ve made your donation of $25 USD or more, email proof of your donation to sharelove@innovative-e.us to receive the voucher for your free e-book.

And there’s more! When the fund drive is over, on April 15, 2011, all donors will be entered into a raffle for fantastic prizes worth over $50,000 , including three Fpweb.net Hosted SharePoint 2010 Foundation Sites (valued at $600 each) and much, much more! To see a full list of the raffle prizes and to read more about Operation ShareLove and how you can help, visit meetdux.com.

Tis the season for giving

Tis the season to be giving! Here at Fpweb.net we certainly have a hard time choosing our local St. Louis charities to donate our time and money to, but this holiday season one managed to stand out above the others – The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery.

Cardinals and Co.

Busch Stadium The close of baseball’s regular season here in St. Louis is usually a very exciting time as we are getting ready to take on playoffs.  However, this year Fpweb.net gathered as our own little team, to let out a collective sigh and put the Birds to bed for one long winter.  There wasn’t a frown to be found at our annual company outing as we took in the beautiful fall weather, cute kiddies running around, and a 6-1 Cards win over the Rockies!

Sharing with friends...

It is hard to recap the highlights of this night as there were so many; from babies stealing brownies, to raffling off a bat signed by the one and only Stan “The Man” Musial, to Carpenter’s 16th win with only one run. This was most certainly a night to remember for the Fpweb.net family!  We will have to let the pictures speak for themselves…

Enjoy and Happy Fall to you and yours!

The surprising truth about what motivates us

Think you know what motivates people? Think again. If you’ve got about 11 minutes to spare, I highly recommend watching this video. It’s by Dan Pink, author of the book Drive.

I’ve seen this video posted on both Twitter and Facebook a number of times but have never been enticed enough to click on it. Today, after reading about it for the umpteenth time on a blog, I finally gave in. Thank goodness I did because I am blown away!

In this video, Dan talks about what motivates us in a way that’s both creative and resonating, while doing a great job of relating to any frustrated leaders who are trying to motivate their own teams. Go ahead and watch it; I bet you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

Put down your pencils and open your books to hosted SharePoint

The learning landscape has undeniably changed in the past ten years. These days, students all over the world are constantly in touch with technology outside of school, so it’s proving wise to integrate technology into daily school lessons to maintain students’ interest and attention levels. With the recent development of more technological and interactive learning methods like Microsoft SharePoint 2010, traditional teaching elements are starting to show their age.
