The best Marketing a company can put out there doesn’t have to come from an expensive ad agency, a flashy, albeit amazing two story conference booth, or the sharply dressed marketing pros on the exhibit floor. In Marketing, nothing will ever trump the nerds in the dungeon offices (sporting the ninja turtle t-shirts) who make sure when a customer gets off the phone they’re almost happy the problem happened in the first place since they got that extra juicy tech tip offered at no additional cost.

In a technology company, it can be difficult to get everyone on board with the “everyone is marketing” philosophy, but I find it’s the most critical aspect to the success of our Marketing department.

You can spend all the budget in the world on a two story booth for Microsoft’s SharePoint Conference, but what will the investment mean if your help desk engineer leaves a customer with an unsavory taste after a quick troubleshooting call? Or if Sales takes a week to produce a quote, and billing runs a payment one too many times? These things matter!

Tis the season to be giving! Here at Fpweb.net we certainly have a hard time choosing our local St. Louis charities to donate our time and money to, but this holiday season one managed to stand out above the others – The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery.

The close of baseball’s regular season here in St. Louis is usually a very exciting time as we are getting ready to take on playoffs.  However, this year Fpweb.net gathered as our own little team, to let out a collective sigh and put the Birds to bed for one long winter.  There wasn’t a frown to be found at our annual company outing as we took in the beautiful fall weather, cute kiddies running around, and a 6-1 Cards win over the Rockies!

It is hard to recap the highlights of this night as there were so many; from babies stealing brownies, to raffling off a bat signed by the one and only Stan “The Man” Musial, to Carpenter’s 16^th win with only one run. This was most certainly a night to remember for the Fpweb.net family!  We will have to let the pictures speak for themselves…

I’ve seen this video posted on both Twitter and Facebook a number of times but have never been enticed enough to click on it. Today, after reading about it for the umpteenth time on a blog, I finally gave in. Thank goodness I did because I am blown away!

In this video, Dan talks about what motivates us in a way that’s both creative and resonating, while doing a great job of relating to any frustrated leaders who are trying to motivate their own teams. Go ahead and watch it; I bet you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!
